Chester Cecil Bryan

Chester Cecil Bryan, 91, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.

Chester was born on July 18, 1935, in Ashland, KY, to the late Howard Bryan and Dorothy Cleo Kouns Bryan.

In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by his loving wife, Katherine Ann Bryan; a son, Gary Steven Bryan; two daughters, Wannetta Lee Bryan and Carla Zoe Terry; a grandson, Aaron Scott Collins; a brother, Howard Bryan Jr.; and four sisters: Bonnie Watson, Dorothy Lunsford, Charlotte Grubb, and Martha Lynd.

Mr. Bryan was a maintenance supervisor for Armco AK Steel in Ashland, KY, and attended Community Tabernacle Church.

Chester is survived by two daughters: Wilma Jean Bryan Virgin (Carl Blevins) of Argillite, KY and Daphne Bryan of Ironton, OH; daughter-in-law, Loretta Bryan of Wurtland, KY; eight grandchildren: Kavin (Rae Ellen) Virgin, Jerry (Ruby) Vanhorn Jr., Jeremy Vanhorn, Tabitha Morrison, Charles Kirby Jr., Stephanie (Lee) Chapman, Jimmy Collins, and Chris (Christy) Collins; several great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jerry Bryan of Raceland, KY, Ronald Bryan of Raceland, KY, William Bryan of Ashland, KY, and Wendell Bryan of Wurtland, KY; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, October 19, 2026, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Russell, KY.

Visitation will be from 10 A.M. until the time of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
