CPT Paul Thomas Allen, Jr. (retired), 75, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly Flatwoods, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020, after a short illness.
Mr. Allen was born on January 27, 1945, in Kenova, WV, to the late Paul and Hazel Grubb Allen.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Allen was preceded in death by the love of his life, whom he married December 10, 1965, Carol Kay Roy. They are together again in Heaven. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Sherion Allen.
Mr. Allen was the 1963 Valedictorian of Ceredo-Kenova High School. He was an alumnus of Marshall University and West Virginia University, earning his Juris doctorate. Mr. Allen served his country in the US Navy Reserves and the US Army. He retired after giving twenty years to his country. After retiring from the military, Mr. Allen served his community as an attorney. He was City Attorney of Catlettsburg, KY, and a Public Defender before retiring from the State of Kentucky. Mr. Allen was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the American Legion Post 115, and an NRA member. He belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You could find him playing games, admiring his Coca-Cola collection, or on his computer.
Mr. Allen is survived by three daughters, Michelle Dawn (Kevin) Royalty of Florence, KY, Alicia Renee (Michael) Clay of Palm Coast, FL, and Rebekkah Colleen (Jonathan) Dedman of Palm Coast, FL; two sons, Paul Thomas Roy (Monica) Allen III of Lexington, KY and Sean Aaron Roy (Amanda) Allen of Clarksville, TN; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a half-brother, James Allen of Ashland, KY; and a host of extended family and friends.
Graveside rites will be performed at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County, KY.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, from 6 P.M - 8 P.M. at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY.
