Dovetta Joyce Coburn

Dovetta Joyce Akers Coburn, 83 “29”, of Ceredo, WV, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.

Joyce was born December 3, 19??, in Kenova, WV, to the late Carmi Akers and Elizabeth Parsley Akers.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Maxwell “Nokie” Coburn Jr., and her brother, Mickey Akers.

Joyce was the owner of Joy’s Jeans and was a member of Jefferson Avenue Church of God in Huntington, WV. She loved her dog, Lucigirl, her family, studying the bible, and the Andy Griffith Show.

She is survived by her son, Maxwell Scott (Angela) Coburn of Lavalette, WV; two daughters, Rebecca (Jonathan) Bailey of Winter Haven, FL, and Suzanne (Greg) Webb of Crown City, OH; six grandchildren: Tyler Bailey, Zach Bailey, Savannah Iseken, Carmen Webb, Ava Coburn, and Max Coburn; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank Joyce’s caregivers: Regina Stamper and June Bowen for their outstanding work.

A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Spirit of Faith Church (1800 Sycamore St, Kenova, WV 25530) with Pastor Bill Adkins officiating. Burial will follow at Docks Creek Cemetery in Kenova, WV.

Visitation will be from 11 A.M. to the time of the service on Wednesday at the church.

The family has entrusted Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with the arrangements.
