Howard Bailey, 89, of Flatwoods, KY went home to be with his Savior on Monday, May 09, 2011 at Trinity Station Retirement Community in Flatwoods, KY. Mr. Bailey was born February 26, 1922, in Flatwoods, KY, a son of the late Harry Bailey, Sr. and Martha Short Bailey. He was preceded in death by a son, Howard Michael Bailey, 4 brothers; Clarence, Hiram, Paul and Homer Bailey; 6 sisters; Ruby Kirk, Gertie Puckett, Opal Marion, Mary Greene, Mabel Puckett, and Lullabelle Barnett. He was a Director/Elder at Faith Christian Assembly were he built some of the church buildings. He also built the first doctor’s office, pharmacy, dentist office, and dairy bar just to name a few. He built over 200 houses in Flatwoods, plus commercial properties. Mr. Bailey was a Kentucky Colonel. He was an Army Veteran. Mr. Bailey is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Thelma L. Caudill Bailey, 3 sons, J.P. (Nancy) Bailey, Dwight (Cathy) Bailey both of Flatwoods, KY, Mark (Alexis) Bailey of Norfolk, VA, a daughter Sheila (William) Deborde of Flatwoods, KY, a daughter-in-law, Joyce Bailey of South Charleston, OH. He is also survived by, 2 brothers, Harry (Vicki) Bailey, and Jack Bailey, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. The funeral will be Thursday, May 12, 2011 at 1 PM at Faith Christian Assembly in Flatwoods, with Rev. Brent Bailey and Rev. Don Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, KY. The visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 6 to 9 PM at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY and 1 hour before the service at Faith Christian Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to Faith Christian Assembly Building Fund, 1500 Argillite Road, P.O. Box 744, Flatwoods, KY 41139.
