FLATWOODS — Howard “Bud” Douglas, 80, of Flatwoods, went home to be with his Saviour on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, following a brief illness.Mr. Douglas was born June 26, 1931, in Flatwoods, a son of the late James and Gertrude Keaton Douglas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Arbelle Sergent Douglas, and wife, Exie L. Brown Clarke Douglas, and also a brother and several sisters.Mr. Douglas was a member and on the church board of Community Tabernacle. He was a self-employed truck driver. He also drove a truck for Mountain Enterprises and was a carman for C & O Railroad. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved his brothers and sisters from church.He is survived by his children, Kenneth (Linda) Douglas of Greenup, Peggy L. Douglas Brown of Flatwoods and Charles W. Douglas of Flatwoods; step-son, Bobby Gene (Gloria) Clarke of South Carolina; two grandchildren, Cody Brown and his girlfriend, Elizabeth “Liz” Kennard, and Becky (Aaron) Gumbert; two step-grandchildren, Hayden and John Clarke; two great-grandchildren, Colton Gage Gumbert and JaLeigh Gumbert; best friend, Carl Salyers; and a best friend and special nephew, Phillip Williams.The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, with Pastor Dave McGranahan and Brother Lewis Clarke officiating. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011, at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to baileyfamilyfuneralhome.com.
