Kenneth Keith Loyer

Kenneth Keith Loyer, 85, of Russell, KY, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2025, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY.

Kenneth was born July 31, 1939, in Ironton, OH, to the late Thomas Charles Loyer and Lillian Messenger Loyer.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Loyer was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Loyer.

Mr. Loyer was a Safety Coordinator at AK Steel in Ashland, KY, where he retired after forty-four years. He served in the Ohio National Guard for nine years and a former police officer for the city of Flatwoods. In his younger years he enjoyed flying airplanes and was President of the Flatwoods Baseball Little League. He was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Kentucky, F. & A.M in Flatwoods, KY. He was also a member of Advance Methodist Church in Flatwoods, KY.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Brenda Osborne Loyer of Russell, KY; his son, Michael (Jennifer) Loyer of Russell, KY; his daughter, Melanie (James) Russell of St. James, MO; his grandson who was the joy of his life and best friend, Zachary Loyer; and a host of extended family and friends that he loved dearly.

A celebration of life services will be held at a later date.

The family has entrusted Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with the arrangements.
