Larry G Scott

Larry G. Scott Sr., 85, of Raceland, KY, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Mr. Scott was born on June 20, 1941, in Ashland, KY, to the late Orville Bruce Scott and Dora Click Scott.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Kay Brewer Scott; a son, Larry Gordon Scott Jr.; a great-grandchild, Joe Harto; a brother, Bill “Willie” Scott; and a sister-in-law, Mona Scott.

Larry was a hot metal dispatcher for Armco/AK Steel in Ashland, KY. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman who turned his love into a business by making fishing rods for Larry’s Custom Rods. He enjoyed sports and was a baseball coach and basketball referee. He attended Argillite Nazarene Church in Argillite, KY.

Larry is survived by a son, David Wayne (Mary) Scott of Nicholasville, KY; two daughters, Christene Denise (Tim Snoddy) Harris of Flatwoods, KY and Karen Renee Scott of Raceland, KY; ten grandchildren: Devin Scott, Kyra (Amanda) Seibert, Brandi (Ian) Syme, Jason (Michelle) Harris, Eric (Carol) Harris, Jeff (Olivia) Harris, Ashley (Craig) Freese, Tonia Harto, Shannon (Brandon) Gentry, and James Scott; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; a brother, Bruce Orville Scott; daughter-in-law, Coleen Scott of Burkburnett, TX and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Rev. Jim Harris officiating.

Visitation will be from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
