Rita Joyce Mullins Clay

Rita Joyce Mullins Clay, 84, of Albertville, AL, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Shepherd's Cove Hospice House in Albertville, AL.

Rita was born January 24, 1940, in Ashland, KY, to the late George William Mullins and Jane Adkins.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Robert Clay, her brother, Bill Mullins, and her stepmother Carolyn Mullins.

Rita was the Billing Manager for Surgical Associates of Marshall County in Albertville, AL, and worked there until a few months before her passing. She worked well into her 80s to avoid "being bored" in retirement. She previously worked at the office of Dr. Gerald Reams, Advance Family Healthcare, and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. She was a member of Faith Christian Assembly in Flatwoods, KY, and became a member of Connect Church in Guntersville, AL after moving. Rita loved going to the beach and taking day trips at the drop of a hat. She was always up for an adventure, even in her 80s. She was the one to talk to if you needed an update on a family member anywhere in the world. She was blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and a never-ending font of kindness. 

Rita is survived by her only son, Justin Clay of Huntsville, AL; a brother, Chris Mullins of Monroe, OH; and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at noon on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Rev. Brent Bailey officiating.
