Robert Allen Burton

Robert Allen Burton, 78, of Catlettsburg, KY, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones.

Bob was born on May 6, 1948, in Ashland, KY, to the late James E. Burton Jr. and Nellie Faye Marshall Burton Alexander.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, James E. Burton Sr. and Georgie Burton; maternal grandparents, Zachary T. Marshall and Clara Boyles Marshall; and his infant daughter, Lindsey Marie Burton.

Mr. Burton was a retired control operator from Dupont in Wurtland, KY, and a United States Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam era. He was a 1966 graduate from Russell High School and of the Baptist faith. Bob enjoyed softball, bowling, and classic cars.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Debra Mowery Burton of Catlettsburg, KY; his two sons, Rob Burton of Bellefonte, KY, and Wesley Burton of Flatwoods, KY; four grandchildren: Lynzi, Dylan, Kloey, and Madison Burton; his brother, Gary K. (Debbie) Burton of Dayton, OH; and a host of extended family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Bob Mowery officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 P.M. – 6 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
