Sharon Sue " Suzie" Hensley

Sharon Sue “Suzie” Hensley 61, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones after a battle with cancer.

She was born on August 28, 1961, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, KY, to the late Allen Wheeler and Marlene Hignite Ettinger.

In addition to her parents, Suzie was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Tyler Hensley and three brothers: Richard, Keith, and Paul Wheeler.

Suzie was a wife, mother, and most of all, a Mimi. She was a 1980 graduate of Paul G. Blazer High School in Ashland, KY. She was known for her “world famous” homemade pizza, themed cakes, and decorating for various events. She displayed her talents at many special events such as weddings, baby showers, and birthday parties. She truly was involved in raising their children and grandchildren to be the best they could be in whatever they set out to achieve. She attended First Church of Nazarene in Ashland, KY.

Suzie is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 42 years, Terry Hensley of Flatwoods, KY; two sons, Kyle David Hensley of Ashland, KY and Tanner Michael Hensley of Union, KY; three grandchildren: Payton, Rylen, and Roman; her sister, Brenda (Paul) Rogers of Ashland, KY; other close family members include April Hensley, Kayla Hensley, Rachael Westfall, and Matthew Cappellett; and host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 P.M. only Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY, with Pastor Ron Rucker officiating.

Visitation will be from noon – 2 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
