Shirley Kay Scott

Shirley Kay Brewer Scott, 79, of Raceland, KY, passed away on June 4, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Scott was born on January 22, 1944, in Vanceburg, KY to the late Hurldon Lee and Opal Lee Goddard Brewer.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by a son, Larry Gordon Scott Jr.; a grandson, Joe Harto; and three sisters: Jean Bradshaw, Carrie Stambaugh, and Teresa Brewer.

Mrs. Scott was a homemaker and devoted Christian. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed yard sales. Shirley graduated from Ashland High School and attended Argillite Nazarene in Argillite, KY.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Larry G. Scott Sr. of Raceland, KY; a son, David Wayne (Mary) Scott of Nicholasville, KY; two daughters, Christene Denise Harris of Flatwoods, KY, and Karen Renee’ (Jason) Blevins of Raceland, KY; ten grandchildren: Devin Scott, Kyra Bryant, Brandi Syme, Jason Harris, Eric Harris, Jeff Harris, Ashley Freese, Tonia Harto, Shannon Gentry, and James Scott; thirteen, great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six sisters: Mazie Evans Brown, Opal Dixon, Patty Clark, Linda Brewer, Pam Cassady, and Janet Harris; a daughter-in-law, Coleen Scott of Burkburnett, TX; and a host of extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Argillite Nazarene (KY-1, Argillite, KY 41121) with Pastor David Seals officiating. Burial will follow at Golden Oaks Cemetery in Ashland, KY.

Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service on Friday at the church.
