Virginia “Jo” Barker Virgin, 91, of Flatwoods, KY, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods, KY. Mrs. Virgin was born July 25, 1929, in Ashland, KY, to the late Earl and Daisy Gillum Jarvis. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carl Virgin; a son, Joseph Virgin; daughter, Carla Virgin; and two brothers, James and Charles Barker. Mrs. Virgin was a social worker for the State of Kentucky Department of Human Resources and a dedicated homemaker that loved to read and bake goods to the local banks, Doctor’s offices, libraries, and to her dear friend, Mike Wilson. Virginia was also involved in the Women’s Missionary group at Meade Memorial United Methodist Church in Russell, KY where she was a member. Mrs. Virgin is survived by two sons, Michael (Susan) Virgin of Bluffton, South Carolina and David Virgin of Belmont, California; a daughter, Cindy (Frank) Arthur of Flatwoods, KY; four grandchildren: Lauren (Wyatt Jordan) French, Sonny (Adam Osborne) Virgin, Carl (Sarah) Arthur, and Zackary (Leigha) Arthur; four great-grandchildren: Cannon, Copper, Cash, and Benjamin; two sisters, Patricia Miller of Sharonville, OH and Gail White of Lake City, FL; and a host of extended family and friends. The family has arranged a private graveside service with Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, KY with Pastor Larry Puryear officiating. Due to government regulations concerning COVID-19, masks and social distancing are required at all times. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mrs. Virgin’s honor to Meade Memorial United Methodist Church (501 Boyd St, Russell, KY 41169).
